When you buy lingerie you really get what you pay for. Most women think that a cheap bras under $30 will be the same in quality as the more expensive one and that you pay for the brand name which is a common misconception. Bra market is very competitive one and keeping low prices is very important for any retailer.
The truth is that making a good quality bra can be very intensive in labor. You will see extra stitching and attention to detail in the pricey bras where the cheep bras will show you a clear mass production signs. Even though the making of a bra can be very labor intensive the biggest cost for a bra designer is the fabric. Prices are driven up by the elastic material and the fabric that requires precision stitching and handling because of its soft and delicate structure.
The structure of the bra matters also, more expensive bra can be put together from more than 40 pieces of fabric where the economy cheap bras as little as 10 pieces. If you look at the quality in lace bras you will see that the upper shelf bras lace can span in bigger dimensions because the lace fabric is stronger and it does not serve as just sheer decoration. it is a functional piece of the bra. A lot of bras have some elasticity to them and that’s another factor for bra manufactures that drives the price up. Better quality materials that are elastic will maintain its elasticity much longer than on the cheap bras.
Next time you shop in your favorite lingerie store, take a momeant to compare the bra that’s priced above $60 with the one that’s below $30, but make sure that you are not taking a cheap bras from the clearance or sale bin. Make sure to compare the full retail values. Just because the bra is on sale or the store is clearing its inventory, it does not mean that these bras are made to be cheap bras. Once you have both bras in your hand compare the way the bra is sewed on the edges, how the seams are finished, if there is any sewing that’s loose or not finished off properly, if the stitching is double or single thread, how the elastic is sewn in to the bra.
All these factors are important in a good bra design and they are done to make sure that the bra is durable and it feels good for anyone that wears them. If a bra is comfortable, looks great and is soft to the touch it is a investmeant that you should consider making. On average a more expensive bra that’s made of quality materials will outlast a cheep bra by 3 times. You do the math. Would you consider 3 cheep bras that don’t really do their work as far as the comfort level goes or one bra that’s comfortable and pretty and which will outlast the cheap bras 3 times longer? Its your choice but I would take quality over quantity any day.
If you are skeptical, consider buying more pricey bra that’s on clearance and pay less but you will get the quality. As many first timers you will fall in love with that bra (if you get the correct size and flattering style) and your life and outlook on bras will change. As men love their top quality cars women have their shoes and bras. When I asked my man: what's so good in an expensive car? Once he finished to talk about the engine he started talking about the detail and craftsmanship of the interior, the stitching and softness of the leather etc. Treat yourself to a luxury bra that’s retailed for $50-$80 and you will save money by buying quality products that will last you for a while and feel great wearing it and occasionally showing it off.
