Many women have trouble finding their correct bra size, in fact, it is estimated that up to more than 80% of the women wear the wrong bra size. This doesn't mean that women are clueless about their own body, it simply indicates the variation in sizes. Even within the same brand similar sizes in different designs would fit quite differently. Why proper fitting is important? Because it is unhealthy for your breasts, specifically if you're wearing a smaller bra than your actual size.
Things to Know: Your perfect bra size should have a snug fitting, enough for you to fit one or two fingers under the bands easily. If you're facing difficulty fitting one finger under the band or even when set in the loosest hooks it seems impossible to do so, then that's your hint to move up a band size. Similarly, if the band seems to rise up your back or if it's possible to pull it away from your body, then that's your hint to move down a band size.
It's definitely easier to figure whether a size is right for you or not when it comes to underwire bras. What you must make sure of is that the wire of an underwire bra should always lay flat to your breast bone, and if it does, then wonderful, it's a fit! Now it's important that you realize, if you're wearing a bra with no underwire then it does not at all indicate having ''one big boob''.
You could be wearing a soft cup bra or a molded cup bra. For both types it is important that your breasts completely fill the cup, which means: no gapping fabric and no extra room! Pay special attention to the fact that you do not spill out of the cup (from the bottom, top or sides) and if you do, then just go up a cup size.
Does your bra lift up or off when you raise your arms? If so, your bra needs to be adjusted. The bra should be well-adjusted so that it stays firmly against your body. Adjust the shoulder straps accordingly till you feel there is no extra space and your breasts fill in the cups perfectly. A well-fitted bra can greatly increase your confidence and ease. A bad fitting bra causes a lot of inconvenience and there's only one universal law to know: If your bra is a perfect fit then it should NOT be uncomfortable or painful to wear!
